I will answer your response point by point that you made.

I won't waste my time listening to what you linked since we won't be discussing anything.I have heard some of the Oregon show and it is sad that this is what it has come down to.

Secondly if your only insight into the GD'S music is that "it's great" there can be no conversation.

I think the music of the actual GD is the best conduit to new fans. This way there is no confusion as to what you are hearing. It's not three 70 year olds, some some pop star douche bag and two other guys trying to play the bass and keyboard parts.

While I definitely prefer the '68-'74 time frame I never drew the line at '75 and unlike you can discuss the music in some detail through '85.At no point did I yearn for the good old days as I started moving away from the Dead even while touring heavily in '79-'80 and developed an interest in free jazz and other music and began to move on in the early 80's as they started their nosedive. In actuality the only reason these GD acts and tribute bands exist is because people like yourself want to relive their GD past experiences.

Sorry - this sounds like one of them pompous self rightous "REAL" dead head answers I always hated from people so hip they couldn't be wrong.

If you "started moving away from the Dead even while touring heavily in '79-'80" - what the hell you still doing on a dying GD board 40 years later?

We all know the tired arguments about GD music, whats good / bad / best, east coast / west coast, that have been beaten like dead horses for decades - bring something new and enjoyable or let others enjoy what they enjoy

Life is too short

There was no name calling in my original post or response and I found his original post to be sort of pissy in attitude,so I answered in maybe not my most pleasant mode but didn't say anything that wasn't true.I like VM and did not feel great about the whole exchange, but his post just hit me wrong.

Could you be any more insulting?

Jane, you most ignorant slut,
It is listening to live music now that I am talking about, not the past, idiot.

You are calling me an idiot when you mistakenly said I was comparing the bands, you couldn't muster an opinion other than it sounds great and then went on to say "many like yourself drew a line at '75 and took the other 20 years with a grain of salt and yearning for the good old days".None of that statement being true.At no point in your post do you mention anything or provide even a hint about it being about live music.

Here's the funny aspect to this (trust, I know you and V are not nearly as at odds as you appear; OK, OK, I am the Will Rogers of the Forum...it's true), I do draw the line, but I draw it at 1971, and I only saw them at 1974-1982.

I like to think that gives me some "objectivity" in arguing for their quality...well, maybe.
